Steven Duong is an experienced investment professional who joined West Potomac Capital (WPC) as Senior Vice President (SVP) in April 2023. Mr. Duong has over 20 years of experience with financial institutions and U.S. banks in equity research, investment banking and financial data services. Mr. Duong is responsible for deal sourcing, investment research, due diligence and execution related to financial institution and solar investments.

Mr. Duong spent 12 years (2009 to 2021) as an Equity Research Analyst at RBC Capital Markets covering small-to-mid cap banks and achieved a 5-star ranking with an average return of 35% and success rate of over 80% (TipRanks.com). Prior to that, Mr. Duong served as the Co-Head of SNL Financial’s Financial Institutions Group (currently S&P Capital IQ) and was Head of SNL’s Online Analytics platform. Prior to SNL, Mr. Duong was an investment banker at RBC Capital Markets from 2000 to 2003 where he helped execute over 20 financial institution mergers & acquisitions, common equity, preferred equity, subordinated debt, and trust preferred transactions totaling over $2.4 billion. Mr. Duong was also at Figure Technologies, Inc. (2022-2023), a fintech blockchain company focused on bringing the benefits of decentralized technology to traditional finance.

Mr. Duong graduated Magna Cum Laude from Rutgers University with a BA in Political Science and Economics and was on the Men’s varsity tennis team. Mr. Duong passed the CFA exam Level I in June 2024 and is involved with the HATCH Network, a nonprofit organization that facilitates collaboration of leaders in various fields to develop actionable solutions to real world problems. In his spare time, Mr. Duong is an avid mountain biker and enjoys playing tennis, traveling, cooking, and spending time with his 3 dogs. As a refugee from Vietnam in the early 1980s, Mr. Duong is passionate about serving the underprivileged.
